Matthew Cann

I was born in Gloucester in 1972 and was a chorister in Gloucester Cathedral and sang in the famous Three Choirs Festival along with Hereford and Worcester Cathedral Choirs. After music college studying piano and voice in Colchester, I went to Oxford for a one year teaching training post graduate degree. Then I moved onto Norwich to become and Layclerk at Norwich Cathedral singing solo in front of John Taverner in my first week there. I moved down to Devon to Exeter in 2006 where I am a Lay Vicar (same as a Layclerk) in Exeter Cathedral. Throughout my time in Norwich and Exeter I have composed music that is performed by Norwich and Exeter Cathedral Choirs as well as semi-professional groups I have association with. I have been commissioned many times by Buckfast Abbey as well as other groups having heard my material in Cathedral.
