This piece was written specifically for a yearly 5th grade honor choir in Hamilton County, TN. Festival and honor choirs bring unique opportunities to students, and can come with unique challenges as performance spaces, rehearsal time, and learning needs of choristers can be highly variable at these events. "When I'm Singing" was written with all of these opportunities and challenges in mind, to help choristers produce a beautiful, gentle unison sound with great confidence, and to offer flexibility regarding collaborative instrumentation. Although the piece has 2 part sections, it can easily be performed as a unison piece.
