About the Score

The Magnificat follows the old fashioned style of a Fauxbourdon setting of the text alternating plainsong and harmony verses culminating in a large homophonic Gloria. The Nunc plainsong is an upside down version of the Mag plainsong ending in the same Gloria. The Mag is dedicated to "GG" who was my daughter's "Great Gran" - a much loved lady who died in 2011. And the Nunc is dedicated to "PH" who is Phil Hobbs - a long standing, now retired member of Exeter Cathedral Choir.
