About the Score

FESTIVE MAGNIFICAT (SATB, one piano four hands accompaniment) is a grand, festive piece for concert use. Commissioned to celebrate the sisterhood between Gwang Myeong, South Korea, and Yamato, Japan, it was world-premiered by the Gwang Myeong City Choir, conducted by Young Jin Kim with Hyejung Kim on primo piano and the composer on secondo piano, at Sirius Hall in Yamato on November 27, 2016 (video available on YouTube). The piece is also the title track of the composer's CD, featuring 16 mostly a cappella songs recorded by Kammerchor Manila (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARcRBK86DU4) in 2018. FESTIVE MAGNIFICAT was also performed by the Suncheon City Choir, Korea (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2jmZkYyhp4), and the Texas A&M Commerce Chorale, conducted by Prof. Randall Hooper in the US (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jezy67k5-Wo).
