About the Score

Chosen Family is a four-movement choral cycle adapting poetry by the queer Canadian poet John Barton. Using a kaleidoscope of textures and techniques, each movement recalls an important person in his life who has since passed away. Together, they form a narrative of life, love, and coping with loss through the support of our chosen families.
