About the Score

I started writing Choose Love in the midst of the global pandemic and shortly after the murder of George Floyd. These events were weighing heavily on my mind, as was the subsequent racial tension, hate speech, and stories of gun violence permeating the airwaves. I searched the scriptures looking for an impactful passage about the healing power of love to set as an anthem, and came upon the third chapter of Colossians. My paraphrase of this text lent itself perfectly to what is for me the cathartic power of music to heal.
