Stephen Bouma is the Music Minister for First Central Congregational Church in Omaha, Nebraska, as well as the accompanist and vocal coach for Omaha Central High School. Mr. Bouma has degrees in Piano Performance from Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He studied composition with Jean Dodworth (NWU), Robert Beadell and Randy Snyder (UNL), as well as Z. Randall Stroope. Mr. Bouma’s compositions have been featured on the Nebraska Music Education Association Conference and the North Central American Choral Director’s Association Conference. He has twice won prizes in the Ithaca College International Composition Contest. Mr. Bouma has been commissioned by Central High School (NE), Hastings High School (NE), Clarion Chamber Chorale (NE) and Appleton Boy Choir (WI). He is the commissioned composer for the 2023 Nebraska Choral Directors Association Summer Conference. In addition to writing choral music for SATB, SSA and TTBB High School Choirs, Bouma also writes accessible SATB and SAB church choir compositions, as well as organ offertories.
