Sam Post has been praised in the Washington Post as a “pianist of drive and intelligence” and “a mind most comfortable with lucid structure and textural contrast." A late-starting composer, he has played many of his own compositions in venues on the East Coast, including the Kennedy Center and Strathmore Music Center. More recently, they have been performed by other pianists at Montclair State University (Ron Levy and Michael Caldwell) and the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto (Kara Huber). In 2013 he joined the faculty at Levine Music in Washington, DC and won honorable mention at the Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition. He recorded his first two studio albums, including selections of his own works and the Goldberg Variations by Bach, along with lecture commentary. In 2014 he won first prize at the Wonderlic Piano Competition and performed Bach’s complete Art of Fugue with fellow keyboard player Ralitza Patcheva as part of the Washington International Piano Series at Catholic University and Levine Presents. His podcast the Music Post, available on iTunes and feedburner, introduces listeners to classics while exploring the intersections of music, science and history.
