Connecticut-born composer and pianist Matthew Swartz moved to Greater Los Angeles in 2010. Beginning to establish his voice as a composer, Swartz’s choral music is gaining recognition. In June 2018, Swartz participated as a Composition Fellow in Choral Arts Initiative’s PREMIERE|Project Festival, for which his piece "I Shall Not Live in Vain" was commissioned. In October 2016, Swartz received his first international premiere with his award-winning choral piece "Zueignung". Currently a full-time freelancer, Swartz is in demand as a versatile pianist, organist, music copyist, editor, and educator. His collaborative work yields frequent appearances as an accompanist for choral ensembles and vocal soloists, and he has sung with the Pomona College Choir since 2012. Swartz has a passion for music technology, having taught it at the graduate level, and enjoys exploring electronic elements in modern film and game scoring. He spends his spare time in Logic Pro, tinkering with virtual instruments and creating cinematic cues.
