Matteo Magistrali is an Italian composer, tenor and choir and orchestra conductor born in 1980. He started studying piano at a very young age, continuing with Choral and Orchestra conducting, Composition, and Singing. He graduated cum laude from the Conservatory of Milan with degrees in Composition and in Instrumentation and Composition for Wind Orchestra. He has participated in numerous masterclasses in the singing and conducting (choral and orchestral), including those given by Masters Stephen Connolly, Johan de Meij, Frieder Bernius, Gary Graden, Tonu Kaljuste, Lorenzo Donati, Giovanni Acciai - to mention the main - and, in the field of composition, with the Masters Alessandro Solbiati, Claudio Ambrosini, Frederic Durieux, Philippe Leroux, Mauro Cardi, Anton Safronov and others. He has many compositions (works from vocal music solo to motets and choral elaborations, pieces for instrument solo, ensemble, up to the writing for symphonic orchestra); worthy of note are, in addition to various mentions at national and international competitions, these awards: victory (with unanimous verdict) of the composition competition Anima Mundi (2023), victory of the IX Premio International de Musica Sacra Fernando Rielo of Madrid (2021), 1st prize at the international composition competition ICCC Japan (2019), win of the International Composition Award "Luigi Nono" (2014) and many others. In October 2022 he was invited to Tokyo by M° Ko Matsushita, together with such renowned composers as Vytautas Miškinis, Javier Busto, György Orbán and many others, for the first performance of a piece commissioned by him on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. His music is publicated by the Italian publishing houses Carrara, Feniarco, Sonitus, ArsPublica and international Edition ICOT, Pizzicato, DaVinci and Panamusica and is performed in Italy, France, Spain, England, Russia, Japan, Philippines...
