Kahan Taraporevala is a composer, pianist and conductor born in 1999. Growing up in India and Singapore, he has a diverse background. He trained as a classical pianist under Tatyana Dichenko. As an accompanist Kahan has worked with the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Spain. Kahan completed a BM in Music Composition with a Minor in Conducting from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University in 2022. In his undergraduate years, Kahan sang at First United Church, the University Chorale under Dr. Burleigh and the NOTUS Ensemble under Dr. DiOrio. Being a part of choirs throughout his life, Kahan was in the Mehli Metha Music Foundation (MMMF) youth choirs during his childhood. During high school he was an assistant teacher in the Discover Music Program for young children at MMMF. Kahan is now completing a MM in Music Composition at the UNT College of Music. As a conductor he hopes to continually conduct ensembles and choirs. As a composer he hopes all who listen to or perform his music can find joy and something meaningful to connect with.
