"Don Macdonald is an award-winning composer of film and concert music and he has an eclectic musical background as a performer on saxophone, violin, and voice. He is recognized internationally as a composer of choral music but has also written for orchestra, string quartet, and concert band. Don has received many commissions including works for the 400-voice mass choir at the Kaleid Festival, the Finnish group “Rajaton”, Elektra Women’s Choir, and the Canadian Men’s Choir. While he often turns to famous poets for his choral compositions, he also explores contemporary themes by writing his own poetry as evidenced in one of his most well-known works “When the Earth Stands Still”. His music is published by ECS, Hal Leonard, Cypress and Music Spoke. Don lives in the mountains of Nelson, BC Canada where he teaches at the Selkirk College Music Program (a Berklee College of Music Global Partner).
