Filipino-American conductor, composer and singer, Arianne Abela, is Director of the Choral Program at Amherst College where she directs the historic Glee Club and Concert Choir and is Artistic Director of professional singing group, Kaleidoscope Vocal Ensemble, dedicated to racial, ethnic, gender diversity and the intersection of the arts and social justice. The ensemble has been featured at many national and regional conferences for ACDA, Podium, and other organizations. Abela has lived and worked in Detroit and New Haven as director and founder of various ensembles such as Detroit Women’s Chorus, Wayne State University ensembles, and 3 Penny Chorus and Orchestra. Featured on America’s Got Talent (season 8), Abela and 3 Penny Chorus and Orchestra advanced to the quarterfinals at Radio City Music Hall. Abela holds a Doctorate from University of Michigan, a master’s degree from Yale University, and BA from Smith College. Originally from the San Francisco bay area, she sang with the San Francisco Girls Chorus for many years. As a person living with a physical disability, Abela has worked as a clinician and guest panelist all over the country to promote accessibility in the arts. She lives in Sunderland with her 3 kids, husband Noah Horn, and goldendoodle, Cookie.
