When A Thought Of War Comes | Marie-Claire Saindon | MusicSpoke - $2.00 x

About the Score

"When a Thought of War Comes" is based on a quote from the transcript of a talk given by a Persian spiritual leader, 'Abdu'l-Bahá, while in Paris, 1911. The piece is a textless/lyric-less choral exploration: what happens when we confront personal thoughts of war and hatred in our own consciousness? What may it look like to tirelessly strive to eradicate said thoughts, even if they may resurface again and again in the future?

"When a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love." - 'Abdu'l-Bahá, Paris Talks, 1911 Written and premiered during the Choral Arts: Conductors & Composers 2020 program at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
