About the Score

"What shines," is a challenging work for women's voices written for the Mount Holyoke College Glee Club. An unaccompanied setting of MHC alumna Marjory Wentworth's poem, the piece makes use of many silent moments, reflecting the visual spaces she uses in the poem. Throughout, I use a mix of polyphony and some homophony, as well as many “shining” or “glimmering” harmonies.
