About the Score

When I found Filippo’s poem on the Internet in 2007, I was captivated by its simplicity and subtle naturalism. I knew instantly it needed to be set to music, but the words sat quietly in my desk for awhile, not fully sure of how to approach the Latin text. It wasn’t until the end of my first 'romantic' relationship that I sat down one day, somewhat despairingly, and wrote the first few notes as an antidote. Looking back, the process feels pure and sweet. At the very least, I’m happy with the music that was birthed from it, and learned rather quickly that love cannot be mended without a bit of heartache and some time.
