Véante mis ojos' is an adaptation of a poem by Jorge de Montemayor (1520-1561), from his collection entitled Las obras de George de Montemayor, published in Antwerp in 1554. The music has an old-fashioned, melancholy air. It has a rondo form A-B-A‘-C-A’', with a serene introduction that serves both as a short interlude to connect the sections and as a coda. The refrain is reflective, and contrasts with the verses, which are more emphatic and imploring in character. There are two versions, one for mixed choir (S, A, T, B) and one for female choir (S, Ms, A). Upcoming performances: This composition was a compulsory work in the modality B (Secondary School) of the 20th edition of the Certamen de Coros Escolares de la Comunidad de Madrid (Spain), to be held on 19 June 2024.
