About the Score

"Tout d'travers (Topsy-Turvy)" is an arrangement of an Acadian traditional tune of the same name. In it, a woman bemoans that her father married her to a man of tiny stature. The song describes their first night after the wedding and the series of misadventures that follows. It involves getting lost in bedsheets, lighting things on fire, and a big grey cat ... Commissioned and premiered by Elektra Women's Choir, Morna Edmundson, Artistic Director, Suzie LeBlanc, soprano, on May 4th, 2019 at Shaughnessy Heights United Church (Vancouver, BC).
