Amy Lowell’s poem suggests that music is a reflection of an individual’s unique resonance and if we connect with our internal harmony, we can find our place in the Earth’s natural rhythm. The choir captures this reflective quality through imitative entrances, coming together on the phrase “your spirit’s harmony, which clear and strong sings but of you.” The poem also invites madrigalistic word painting in phrases such as “one music with a thousand cadences.”
