About the Score

The third movement of Six Eastern European Carols, can be performed as a group or separately. "Three Shepherds" is a Romanian text that is simple and childlike, with a repetitive phrase "Sunbeam, sunflower" that is woven into the musical texture as part of the accompaniment. The musical setting is designed to be reminiscent of a folk-song: simple and direct. Can be performed with piano alone or with piano and strings.
