About the Score

A short anthem on text of Wendell Berry, The Old Ground is equally at home in sacred and secular settings. The work can either be heard as an agrarian mystery-play on the Christmas story, or as a mystical exploration of humanity's role in the cosmos: a being able to "bring together sky and earth". The work was premiered by the Choir of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. Performance by Spiritus Chamber Choir, fall 2021
