About the Score

Sarah Teasdale's poem "My Prayer" provides the text for this sensitive, hopeful, and poignant SATB setting with piano accompaniment. "That I Loved" is accessible musically and provides many opportunities for meaningful, deep discussion. Singers will enjoy how each line plays their own part in the storytelling through smooth, intuitive voice leading, leaving a message to live life to the fullest and without regret. This piece was commissioned by Raytown High School and their director, Alex Kolster.
