About the Score

Snow Angel is a chamber work for soprano, mezzo soprano accompanied by either piano or by chamber ensemble, with text by poet Wyatt Townley. Consisting of ten songs, the work may be staged as a chamber opera or performed in concert as a song cycle. Selected songs may also be excerpted to be performed alone or as subsets, except for the final movement, ("The Back of Beyond") which should only be performed as the finale of the entire song cycle. Piano-vocal version premiered August 11, 2019, by the Lawrence Opera Theater. Chamber ensemble version premiered April 27, 2020, by the University of Kansas orchestra.
