About the Score

My admiration for Francis Poulenc has led me to compose this piece inspired by his homonymous work, Salve Regina. It is a composition that follows my personal style, but reproduces some techniques and ideas reflected in the French composer's score, such as the word painting in 'lacrymarum valle', the move to the major mode in 'eia ergo', the diminished seventh chord in 'et Jesum', the broken sighs of 'O Clemens, O pia' or the style of 'complainte' that incessantly repeats the text 'O dulcis Virgo Maria'. As befits the text –interrogative and imploring– the work is dramatic and deep, and harmonically very intense.
