About the Score

This poignant mood piece is built around the recurring phrase, "My son, peace be unto thy soul." While the text has religious roots, the piece is more appropriate for the concert hall than a typical church service. The shimmering modern harmony is completely diatonic, but it contains no simple major or minor chords. The piece builds to a beautiful climax, then ends with four mesmerising repetitions of the word "peace" as the sound fades into the distance.
