About the Score

"Needful Gifts" is a cappella (optional divisi) and based on an ostinato in the basses that represents the monotony of isolation, with our individual experiences represented through cascading counterpoint. A middle section is chorale-like representing our coming together with hope for the future, but then a return to the monotony, ending with a lonely soprano section singing “awaiting…” "Needful Gifts" was premiered by Te Deum September 18th & 19th, 2021.
