About the Score

Mornings With You is a cycle of four songs for SSAA choir, flute, clarinet, horn, and piano. The poems are written by Brooklyn poet Pam McAllister. The first movement “Mornings With You” is a melodramatic reflection on that moment when your love leaves for the day. “The Glass Half Full” follows, humorously addressing the concept of whether or not opposites attract. The third movement captures the serenity of spending a quiet morning with friends. The joyous final movement “Hunting, Gathering Harmonic Vibrations” describes the excitement of sharing your passions with the one you love. Movements one and four are for the full ensemble. Movement two is scored for choir, flute, clarinet, and piano. Movement three is scored for choir, horn, and piano. The work was commissioned by Melodia Women’s Choir of New York City, Cynthia Powell, artistic director, and Jenny Clarke, executive director. The choir premiered Mornings With You in April, 2011.

Score sold as individual movements or as a full song cycle.
