About the Score

David Dies' Lorca Songs are settings of Lorca poems for soprano and cello. The first, Cancioncilla de la primer deseo, evokes Flamenco, with the cello played entirely without bow and the soprano singing elegant, intricate ornaments. The second, Casida del llanto, takes on an entirely different character: powerfully mournful, recalling the Moorish influence on the culture of southern Spain. Both gripping songs, these are often audience favorites and offer fun challenges for both soprano and cellist.
