About the Score

A setting of the Henry Montagu Butler text "Lift up Your Hearts" for SATB chorus divisi. The piece draws its inspiration from the "shape note" singing tradition with a modern edge. It was written as a dramatic and emotional concert opener and will be featured on the 2018 Texas Small School All State Mixed Choir concert.
