About the Score

Setting a poem loosely inspired by the 2022 discovery of an 8,000 year old child’s grave in eastern Finland, "I Will Ride" depicts the unbounded joy of this child's spirit as he rides, Valkyrie-like, through the infinite expanse of the afterlife, with music that is at turns wild and ecstatic, dark and introspective, and sung with childlike abandon.
