About the Score

A parent's love for a child can take many forms: encouragement, understanding, even advocacy. But perhaps there is no greater manifestation of that bond than the idea that a parent can be a protector, allowing a child to fully experience all life has to offer, both its highs and its lows. The embrace of those challenges, surprises, and rewards is what makes up the journey of life itself. This poem is a gorgeous evocation of that truth, and provided great inspiration for this piece.
