The traditional hymn text and tune is presented in a serene yet confident setting, with the plaintive tone of the oboe serving as counter-melody. Short choral interjections of "Sing!" begin and end the work, as well as fill a short central section of the song. Composed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the setting is hopeful and voices a grounded faith that, whatever the outward circumstances, there is a higher truth that brings peace.
