About the Score

With text by Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1919), "Here and Now" was written for the 2018 ACDA Eastern Division Junior High Honor Choir and their conductor Gary Packwood. Composers Randall Hooper and Gary Packwood use imitative choral writing and sequences throughout the vocal line in an attempt to provide accessibility and musical interest for those developing and intermediate SATB choirs. The piano accompaniment provides chordal support and the horn is an additional layer of intermittent musical interest. The brief (16 measures) homophonic, a cappella section is easy, beautiful, and is sure to add to the over performance of this work.
