About the Score

"God Rest You Merry" is a traditional 18th Century English Christmas Carol that is arranged to showcase an SSAA ensemble. The commissioning choir director and the arranger thought it would be fun to have a women's ensemble be the ones to tell the "merry gentlemen" to chill out. The singers also bring tidings of comfort and joy. Verse 3 is the angels speaking, so they do so in their own key. The melody is passed throughout the arrangement and liberties are taken with regards to rhythm and meter to highlight the text. This familiar Christmas Carol arrangement will come together quickly and work well for your High School, Church/Community, or College/University SSAA ensemble.
