About the Score

An anthem for SATB (with baritone solo) and organ, of moderate difficulty with several bars of sop divisi.

Inspired by the painting 'Peace' by William Strutt, exhibited in Brecon Cathedral. The artist completed the work in 1896 having drawn inspiration from the Book of Isaiah; 'And a little child shall lead them', a title by which the painting is also known. First sung by the men and boys of ChristChurch Cathedral, NZ during Sunday Eucharist at the Transitional Cathedral, Aug 2019.

The text 'For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these' (children) is interspersed with the Latin 'Beati mites' (Blessed are the meek).
