About the Score

This motet is suitable for Remembrance, Veteran's Day, All Souls and other commemorative occasions. It was first performed in Gloucester Cathedral as part of the Gloucester Music Festival 2018. The motet was commissioned for the City of Gloucester's events commemorating the 1100th anniversary of the death of Queen Aethelflaed. It was also sung at Kirkstall Abbey to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

'Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon them. May their souls, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.'
