About the Score

Based on the 2nd half of a longer poem by Lola Ridge, this piece is about how looking beyond ourselves (in this case, to the natural world) can bring us out of our heads, and back from emotionally dark places. Musically, it evokes the world coming alive at dawn, and takes a journey from uneasy stillness to raw, strange, and inescapable aliveness.
