About the Score

This song was written for a dear friend and her excellent choral ensemble. She invited me to set any text and write without parameters. During a rather challenging time in my recent past, I was day-dreaming about the reversal of two magnificent and humbling bodies - the sky and the sea - and what that reality might look and feel like. This work toggles between moving, lyric lines and expansive choral-like sections, and is one of three piece of mine that requires “forearm sinistra” (oh yeah). I’m very grateful to say that this piece received its premiere at the magnificent Carnegie Hall.
