About the Score

Do Good was commissioned by the Alpha Lambda chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Illinois Wesleyan University in celebration of their centennial. The piece sets the inspiring words of former IWU President Minor Myers, Jr.—“Go into the world and do well, but more importantly, do good”—as a recurring chorus, with additional text drawn from his speeches and the composer’s own reflections. Written to be accessible for a wide range of choirs (available in both 3-Part Mixed and SATB), Do Good is an uplifting and meaningful work, ideal for graduations, year-end celebrations, or any occasion that calls for inspiration.
