About the Score

Can You See? was commissioned by the Los Angeles-based group Tonality and their director Dr. Alexander Lloyd Blake. Tonality is a professional performance ensemble dedicated to promoting peace, unity, and social justice through choral music. Can You See? was premiered on October 7, 2019 during the first concert, "Democracy in Action," of Tonality's 2018-2019 season. For this concert, Tonality performed works that spoke about the ideals of the democratic process, highlighting some of our country's shortcomings and encouraging individual and communal action.
