About the Score

This melody was written a number of years ago while I was recording a singer/songwriter album. The music was scored for vocalist, piano, and cello initially, but eventually, I added a string ensemble as well. I even tracked an alternate take of the vocal line with an Irish lilt, attempting to call upon the spirit of my ancestors from Donegal. Although I loved how the piece turned out, I decided to refrain from including the piece on the album, and the song was shelved for a few years. I resurrected it one afternoon and decided to score it for choir and tin whistle. BROTHERS’ HYMN is a sincere lyric dedicated to men and women who have selflessly put themselves in harm’s way for the safety of others.
