About the Score

Penned by well known Mennonite poet Jean Janzen, the text of Bread and Wine was written after a visit to the Holy Land. The musical setting is alternatively plaintiff, rhapsodic and hope-filled, with cello obbligato that musically expresses the meaning of the text. The song was written for the 2015 Tabor College Concert Choir, and premiered at the Kansas Music Educators Association State In-Service Workshop in February of that year.
