SATB chorus, piano, and oboe
In the Bleak Midwinter is an SATB setting of Christina Rossetti’s text originally scored for SATB Chorus, full orchestra with soprano solo. I later composed this piece for a variety of musical settings/versions in order to make it more accessible. The haunting melody introduced by the soprano soloist pervades the overall texture of the piece in a variety of vocal and orchestral colors.
