About the Score

This antiphon Ave, Regina Caelorum, for the feast of the Purification of the Virgin Mary, contains a text of praise. I have therefore tried to write a fresh and gentle music, reflecting the compliments that praise the figure of the Virgin, in a style that is both calm and reverential. The work has a clear A-A' structure, with small melodic changes and some divisi added in the repetition. Highlights are the exultant moments of 'Gaude, Virgo gloriosa, super omnes speciosa' and the brilliance of 'vale, o vale decora', which are intensified by the extended cadenza at the end.
