About the Score

From the Composer: I love the sentiments of service, selflessness, love and generosity that we see in this beautiful poem penned by Pat Daneman and Robert Hill. While I never knew Marie personally, I feel as though I do now-through the insight of Robert Hill, who not only co-authored the text, but also commissioned this work to honor her memory. The text for me is almost a sort of liturgy for those among us like Marie, who love unconditionallywithout seeking attention or reward, but who indeed bless us all with their warmth and transcendent grace. With this in mind, the work is similar at times to a hymn, however; the tempo is fluid and conductors should feel free to indulge the rubato marking according to their own expressive interpretation.
