Kenneth Makuakāne is a legendary Hawaiian musician, prolific songwriter, record producer, and cultural leader whose work has shaped generations of island music. Recognized as the “producer of producers,” he has produced over 200 albums and written more than 1,500 songs recorded by Hawaiʻi’s top artists, including Nā Leo Pilimehana, HAPA, Amy Hānaialiʻi Gilliom, and Kapena. His music has also appeared in films and on major projects like Disney releases with Hawaiian‑language arrangements. A multi‑instrumentalist and vocalist, Kenneth’s contributions have earned him dozens of Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, and recognition in the National Registry of Who’s Who. In 2025 he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters by the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents for his cultural and artistic legacy. In addition to his music career, Kenneth serves as Senior Pastor at historic Kawaiahaʻo Church, continuing his lifelong commitment to community, storytelling, and Hawaiian cultural perpetuation through song and ministry.
